The diagnodent is a pen-like tool that glides over your teeth, scanning it with a harmless laser.  When decay is found, Diagnodent displays it as a numerical measurement, from zero to 99. The higher the number, the greater the decay.  The decay can be detected in its earliest stages, before it progresses and damages the tooth structure.
